Description
The Black Crowned Night-Heron (Nycticorax nycticorax) is a relatively common and widespread species, found worldwide except for Australasia and the Polar regions. It seems to be equally at home in freshwater wetlands and coastal regions. This is an adult bird, close up the brilliant red eye really stands out against the various shades of gray of its plumage.
