Description
The puna ibis (Plegadis ridgwayi) is a common bird of the high altiplano grasslands and wetlands of the central Andean altiplano. This one is in the beautiful summer breeding plumage, in the winter the chestnut coloring is much darker and duller, almost black, though the feathers still have a greenish sheen in the right light. The puna ibis is found in the highlands of Peru, western Bolivia and the extreme north of Chile and Argentina.
