Description:

Choquequirao (which means "Cradle of Gold" in Quechua) is thought to be a sister city of the much more famous Machu Picchu. More remote, harder to get to and in an equally spectacular setting high in the Andes, it was actually discovered before Machu Picchu in the early 19th century though has only recently started to attract adventurous tourists.
